What’s your soundtrack for vintage perfection?

How about original swing and jazz to set the mood; electro–swing to get everyone dancing; soul, funk and rock & roll to appeal to all ages and then finish off with your favourite music old and new to keep you and your friends on the dance-floor until the end of the night.

Friendly, experienced DJ’s working for you

From the oldest vintage classic to the latest club banger, at Vintage Wedding DJ we love all sides of music. We have many years of professional experience packing out dance floors at all types of events from huge festivals to club nights, parties and of course, weddings.

Together with you we will create a playlist of all the songs you love which will then be mixed seamlessly from genre to genre. We also don’t believe in talking over the music, although we will happily deliver introductions and announcements as required.

Fancy a party? We’re hosting our next Electro Swing Ball event at a secret dancing den in Shrewsbury on the 8th of April. Combining the vintage sound of electro-swing with the funk laden bass of ghetto-funk this will be a night of pure dancefloor excitement! See MoreSee Less

So then my darlings… who fancies a dance???

As you know we absolutely love putting on our big full-on Electro Swing Ball events with all the glamour and decadence that goes with it, however we don’t want to do them too often or it’ll take all the fun out of it. That said, the last one was so good that we’re missing you all terribly and we’d like to see you again very soon. We’ve also noticed that there’s a distinct lack of cool events locally for people who simply want to dance to good music with good people. Therefore, we’d like to try something a little different ……. we have decided to launch a club night that hopefully we can run on a more regular basis so we can all spend more time together.

So…. (drum role please) …. we are delighted to introduce… our shiny new thing …… ‘The Electro Swing Ball Presents!’

THE MUSIC…

For our first club night we will of course be playing lots of our signature style music electro swing, complimented by the sound of ghetto funk. If you haven’t heard this name before, you can compare it to how electro swing combines vintage and 20s / 30s swing era with modern dance music; this is the same in Ghetto Funk except here producers are raiding the goldmines of 70s and 80s funk, soul, hip hop and disco. Trust us, it’s perfect party music and you’ll have already heard some of it played at the Electro Swing Ball nights, usually right at the end.

If this first party is a success then we’d like to propose that you guys help choose the theme for the next club night. Our favourites so far are latin carnival, world music party, balkan & gypsy fiesta or perhaps a combination of them all?! Do give us your feedback please!

THE VENUE… (?)

This time we’re not in a grand ballroom or a historic hall. Instead we’ve chosen a small but perfectly formed party space that we can transform with our visuals, lighting and decor. Filled with our gorgeous crowd, we know we can re-create the incredible atmosphere we all feel at our full-scale events. Still, we do like to keep a few tricks up our sleeve, so this time we won’t be revealing our venue in advance. Instead we are asking everyone to meet us in the Square in the centre of Shrewsbury at 7-45, and then at 8-00 on the dot we shall walk the short distance to the venue itself together. Why? Well, one we thought it would be fun, and two we will then be able to get the party going right from the start of the evening!

DRESS CODE

As always it is entirely up to you how you wish to dress; but as this is a club night rather a Ball then our dresscode isn’t strictly vintage. Instead we would say wear something that makes you feel delicious (Jo says she’s still going to wear a dress!).

THE TICKETS

Before buying tickets do ensure that you can be in the Square in Shrewsbury by 8-00 on the 8th of April at the very latest.

So if you’re sure you can meet us then head on over to Brown Paper Tickets, where you’ll find our tickets under ‘The Electro Swing Ball Presents Electro Swing Vs Ghetto Funk’ priced at just £10 each.

www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2873064

One final thing to say … the capacity is very small and strictly limited for this event; so you need to get on it and get your tickets fast! Once they’re gone, they’re gone!

We do hope you can join us for what will be an intimate and joyful evening of pure love and dancing.

We can’t wait to see you and your loved ones on our dancefloor again!

Absolutely wonderful to see some of the photos from Clare and Carls stunning Christmas themed wedding last weekend. The whole day went so smoothly, right from the ceremony, through the gorgeous food for the wedding breakfast to a great evening party. Clare and Carl were brilliant throughout and were the last on the dancefloor at the end of the night at 1am. My moment of the night? Playing the full 7 1/2 minutes worth of Sweet Home Chicago from the Blues Brothers. Wow that tune grooves along! See MoreSee Less

So here it is! My last #wedding of #2016! And what a high I finished on. Clare & Carl’s #Christmas #themed wedding Mallory Court in #Warwickshire.

Well it’s a been a stunning ride; today is my birthday and I thought it was the perfect time to take stock of how Vintage Wedding DJ has grown over the last 3 years.

The concept for creating bespoke wedding entertainment with a vintage twist grew from our successful Electro-Swing Ball events where we realised that vintage music could unite all age groups within an audience. Combining a wide knowledge of music of all genres from old to new with an eagerness to give each couple the best experience that I possibly could, has led to many very successful and hugely enjoyable weddings. It’s easy to say how good you are at doing your job, however I hope that this is borne out by the positive reviews I’ve received on Google and Facebook.

It has taken time and a lot of hard work to get to where the business is today; I’ve invested in good looking, high quality equipment that is a compliment to any wedding, plus I’m willing to work hard every time to make sure that each event is as good as it possibly can be. Sometimes vintage music goes down well all night; sometimes I start off playing old music and then end up playing party classics to keep everyone happy. Every wedding is very different and each couple wants and needs vary widely. What doesn’t vary is that my own wedding was the best day of my life and I want every couple to share in this feeling.

To me, the very best weddings are the ones where the couple have lots of good ideas and I can make them happen. Having someone jump out of a cake halfway through the night, or playing a sentimental song to make the mother of the bride happy; these are the moments that will be remembered for a lifetime, and these are the moments I’m keen to make happen. Some careful planning beforehand can go a very long way and create a memory that will last forever.

I know that my own skills for running a wedding have improved immensely during this time. I’m very confident in helping each couple plan the timeline for their day and help them to implement it. My confidence on the microphone to announce and introduce each part of the day has improved immeasureably and I’m happy to act as Master of Ceremonies whenever needed; I’m finally at the point where I can freestyle and make jokes!

This is what has made Vintage Wedding DJ successful so far, and I hope that these skills will grow and develop in years to come. I can honestly say that I love my job; I get to plan and then spend the day with the most beautiful couples and their friends and families. I frequently come away from weddings feeling valued and loved having made new friends, I feel blessed and I am excited about the future. Huge love and thanks to all the couples I have worked with over the past 3 years, it’s been a blast and I have loved every single event.
